About Jim Fields
Hi! I'm Jim Fields, and I'm a Business Intelligence and Data Analyst with a keen interest in solving problems. Pursuing accuracy in my analyses and diplomacy in my approach, I demonstrate both logic and stability when taking on new tasks. I want people to see me as reflective, stable, orderly, even-tempered, well-prepared, and patient. I relish having time to think alone and can be quite independent. I have a reserved personality but don't be fooled: underneath this calm exterior lies someone who loves to laugh and share random facts related to the discussion.
When I'm not poring over spreadsheets, you can find me writing notes and letters with a fountain pen, exploring the world of ink colors, or learning more dad jokes to make people chuckle in spite of themselves. My inquisitive nature leads me to take up diverse interests like photography, disc golf, and 3D printing—alomg with foreign language studies. (I'm conversational in German and a beginner in Welsh.) I enjoy spending time with my wife, our daughter, and our two rescue dogs, Jameson and November. We love to play games and spend time with friends. I'm a fan of dogs, Cincinnati, coffee, and all-around geekery.
Postcrossing
One of the more unusual hobbies I enjoy is sending and receiving postcards to and from others around the world through Postcrossing. When you sign up for a free account you ask for receipients (up to five at a time) to whom you send a postcard. You write the ID on the card so the recipient can register it once it's received. Once they do that someone else from around the world gets your name and address and sends you a card! And it keeps going from there! You should get one card for each you send that's received.
Look at my wall of postcards to get an idea of what you can expect. You meet some wonderful people and get glimpses into life around the world. Sign up for your own Postcrossing account today!
Personality Traits
I find personality traits fascinating! According to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator I am an ISTP. According to StrengthsFinder 2.0 my top five strengths are Context, Learning, Intellection, Ideation, and Consistency. My DiSC profile is a strong C bordering on CS.
I believe that tools like these are not for pigeon-holing people but can be wonderful tools to better understand people, how they think, and how they work. Understanding people better helps us communicate and connect better. But that's just probably just my Context strength showing.
